There is no fee for our service.

I need to get my mother into senior housing. What do I need to do?

There is a Housing Guide, which lists all senior housing in the metro area. It lists market rate, subsidized, public housing, assisted living and memory care facilities. We can mail one out to you. After you have had a chance to read the guide, select the buildings that interests you and call to inquire about waiting lists and to request an application.  At that time of the call, you can also arrange for a tour.  For information related to current housing openings, please contact and inquire with the residence of interest directly.

I live in Anoka and I need my yard raked. Is there someone who could do that for me? (This call could be for a variety of chore services.)

Yes, there is a chore service for older adults in Anoka County called Chores & More. This program helps with both indoor and outdoor chores like housecleaning, laundry, mowing, raking, and snow removal. There is a charge for the service.  However, it is based on your ability to pay.  You can discuss that with the Chores and More Program at 763.783.4767.


I have a doctor’s appointment next week at Unity Hospital and another appointment next month in Brooklyn Center. Is there a service for older adults in Anoka County to get me to my appointments?

There are several options for you:

  • For your appointment at Unity Hospital, you can call the Anoka County Traveler at 763.324.3250 (They do a dial-a-ride program that will take you door to door for a nominal fee, but you must stay within the County).
  • There is also a volunteer transportation service for doctor appointments and social service appointments only that will leave the County and stay with you to drive you home. They only take calls in the morning from 9 am – 12 noon. That number is 763.324.3255.

What if the referral you gave me doesn’t meet my needs?

We call you back in about a week, and check to see if the referral was appropriate. At that time, we would explore other options and try to find alternative solutions to meet your needs.
