Does Head Start cost anything?
No, Head Start is a free program. Families receiving MFIP or SSI and foster children are eligible even though they may be over the Federal Income Guidelines for eligibility.
What is your priority for selection?
Any low-income families residing in Anoka or Washington County who meet the Federal Income Guidelines are eligible for Head Start (see income guidelines below).
When will I find out if my child has been accepted?
The application, income document, current child physical and immunization record are required. When these forms are processed, you will receive a letter or phone call notifying you of your eligibility, waiting list, and/or enrollment status.
Do you serve children with special needs?
Yes, at least 10% of our enrollment is available for children with diagnosed special needs.
Is there an interpreter available to help fill out the application?
Upon request an interpreter can be arranged for you.
Is there transportation available?
Limited transportation is available near most of our centers. Parents may also drive their children to and from a Head Start center.
Where are your centers/classrooms located?
In Anoka County our centers are located in Cedar, Coon Rapids, and Columbia Heights. In Washington County our centers are located in Forest Lake, Newport, Oakdale, and Stillwater. The Home Based Program option is offered in Anoka County.
What are the income guidelines?
For each additional person, add $4,160.
